The Beatles music is so iconic that if you’re a musician, you wanna do 1 of 2 things: run as fast as you can in the opposite direction because honestly… how do you follow that brilliance?! Or 2: you do what John Lennon sang about: Imagine. So I did. I’ve imagined my way through their songs for many years, just me at my piano, always feeling they were made for funk grooves. I slowed ‘em down, leaned into their blues. I imagined my own grooves into them, and eventually arrangements emerged. I finally brought them to my two amazing bandmates, and uplifted by the sound, we decided to perform a concert of just Beatles songs during the summer of 2023. Our audience responded emotionally, inspiring another leap of faith: we jumped into the studio and recorded as many as we could in one day. This is the result… we hope you enjoy our versions of these legendary, yet very personal, songs. My deep thanks to Matt and Michael who always bring their unique artistry to their craft and to our projects. And a huge thanks to YOU for listening.
